Privacy Policy

Plain terms, not a wall of legal text. Last reviewed 4 August 2026.

We're a young, small UK company, and this policy reflects our current, real practice rather than aspirational claims. We're actively reviewing how we handle voice-cloning specifically — see "AI processing" below — and will update this page as that review completes. If anything here is unclear, email us and a real person will answer.

Who we are

Inchapters is operated by Node Scope Ltd, a UK company. For anything in this policy, or any question about your data, contact john.fergie001@gmail.com.

What we collect

How we use it

To build and print your book: turning the storyteller's answers into a narrative, generating the audiobook and QR-linked audio if you order Voicever, and producing the finished print files. We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.

AI processing — including voice cloning

Building your book uses a small number of specific AI services, each doing one job:

ProviderWhat it does
Anthropic (Claude)Turns the storyteller's answers into narrative prose
OpenAI (Whisper)Transcribes spoken answers to text
ElevenLabsOnly if you order Voicever — clones the storyteller's voice to narrate the finished book

Voice cloning creates a synthetic model capable of reproducing someone's voice — a more sensitive kind of processing than storing a recording, and one we're currently reviewing against the higher legal bar that applies to biometric data (in particular, UK GDPR Article 9). Until that review is complete, we're being deliberately conservative: we don't use cloned voice data for anything beyond generating the specific narration you've ordered, and we're working on a clearer, standalone consent step for this specifically, separate from general checkout agreement.

We don't use your recordings or narrative to train AI models beyond generating your own book and (if ordered) your own Voicever narration.

Who else we share it with

Beyond the AI providers above: Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), Cloudflare (secure storage for audio linked to your book's QR codes), and Lulu (our print partner — Lulu receives only the finished print files, never your original recordings).

Several of these providers are based in the United States. Where personal data leaves the UK, we rely on the transfer mechanisms each provider makes available (such as the UK-US Data Bridge) — we're reviewing this on a per-provider basis to confirm the right safeguard applies given the sensitivity of some of the data involved.

How long we keep it

Audio linked to QR codes in a printed book is kept for at least 10 years, so the codes keep working — this is a deliberate product promise, not a default. Other data is kept for as long as needed to fulfil your order and deal with any follow-up (support requests, warranty/guarantee claims, legal obligations like tax records for payments).

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you can ask us to:

To exercise any of these, email john.fergie001@gmail.com. If you're unhappy with our response, you can complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Security

Recordings and files are stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure, which encrypts data at rest and in transit. Internal access to your recordings is limited to what's needed to produce your book and resolve support issues — not routine browsing — and we're actively tightening exactly how that access is controlled and logged.

Children

Inchapters isn't intended for use by children. The storyteller is typically an adult; if a family member is under 18 and appears in recordings or photos as part of someone else's story, we treat that data with the same care as anyone else's and it's covered by this policy.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page as our practices evolve — particularly as our review of voice-cloning consent completes — and update the "last reviewed" date at the top when we do.
